Autumn 2024 Highlights

The leaves are getting ready to crinkle and crunch underfoot and hats and scarves everywhere are waiting to come out from the back of the wardrobe.

Yes, autumn is just around the corner, and we can’t wait to settle in for some cosy evenings enjoying world-famous musicals, fresh drama, curated live music and playful cabaret.

Iconic Musicals

We have not one but two world-famous musicals coming to our stage over the coming months. Soon to be a blockbuster film, Wicked casts its beguiling spell over Cardiff Bay 24 October–23 November. And Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s award-winning cultural phenomenon, blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B and Broadway from 26 November.

Outstanding Opera

Welsh National Opera bring wit, passion, high emotion and intense drama to our stage courtesy of Verdi’s Rigoletto and Puccini’s il trittico. Book for both productions to save 10% on tickets.

New Drama

Love horror? Then dare to join us for our latest Wales Millennium Centre Production. It's a snowy St Dwynwen's Day and terror is closing in on Pontypool...

Based on the original radio play by Tony Burgess which inspired the 2008 cult horror film, PONTYPOOL is a new stage adaptation by Hefin Robinson of the story that turned the zombie genre on its head.

For One Night Only

Get your tickets for these one night sensations: West End star Carrie Hope Fletcher’s gorgeous show Love Letters takes a look at love in many forms through song; pop wonder Rick Astley discusses his brilliant autobiography, Never; get ready for a night of pure glamour, dancing and powerhouse vocals with Everybody Dance in the company of Steps’ Claire Richards; celebrate a decade of the beloved podcast No Such Thing As A Fish; and join Dick and Angel, the entertaining stars of Escape to the Chateau, as they share the adventures of building and living their unique Chateau dream.

Llais

Llais, our annual international festival of cutting-edge live music, thought-provoking performance and limitless creativity is back this autumn. Acts include Joan As Police Woman, Georgia Ruth and Grammy Award-winning Sweet Honey In The Rock.

Other highlights include If I Could Only Remember My Name, an evening celebrating the musical genius of American songwriter David Crosby, member of The Byrds and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, who passed away last year. Artists including Mike Scott (The Waterboys), Liam Ó Maonlaí (Hothouse Flowers), Kris Drever (Lau), The Staves and Zervas & Pepper will lend their talents to the tribute.

The festival will close with Fantastic Racket, a one-off showcase of iconic voices from music, books, art and beyond. Including Sara Pascoe, Irvine Welsh, Charlotte Church + Le Gateau Chocolat, Hollie McNish, Carys Eleri and more. Immersive Treats

Bocs, our home for immersive experiences has been described as "a Michelin starred meal for the senses", and this autumn we have two award-winning events.

From 1 October–3 November, we present Colored: The Unsung Life of Claudette Colvin. Step back in time to Montgomery, Alabama, March 2, 1955. Fifteen-year-old Black teenager Claudette refuses to give up her seat on the bus to a white passenger, nine months before Rosa Parks does the same thing and changes history.  A unique augmented reality experience. Tickets £10.

Also during Llais (9–13 October) Only Expansion, a visceral and poetic reflection on what it means to live on a planet in crisis, will delight audiences. Tickets available on arrival on a pay what you can basis, you can pick up your headphones from Bocs.

Delicious Cabaret

We have joyful, queer, hilarious cabaret shows on every weekend. Join us for TikTok sensation Christopher Hall; RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under judge Rhys Nicholson returns with their brand-new, stand-up comedy concert; get stuck into spooky season with Cŵm Rag: Nos Galan Gay-AF and enjoy a night of pure South Asian queer joy courtesy of Asian Purrsuasion.
