Are you an aspiring theatre director aged 1825 with a passion for storytelling and a vision for the stage? Our new Theatre Directors course is designed just for you.

Dive into the art of directing and bring your creative ideas to life under the expert guidance of Dr Sita Thomas.

- Directing Techniques: Master the fundamentals of directing, including script analysis, blocking and actor management 

- Creative Vision: Develop your unique directing style and artistic vision

- Previous experience in theatre 

Who is teaching the course?

Dr Sita Thomas is Artistic Director and CEO of Fio theatre company based in Cardiff www.wearefio.org.uk. Sita is passionate about championing and creating opportunities for Global Majority creatives. Her work is multidisciplinary, often including movement, live music and art. Sita loves to create work in unconventional spaces, such as in skate parks, kitchens, the steps of Coventry Cathedral, outdoors in gardens and parks or the streets of Brick Lane. 

Recent highlights include, as director: The Way I Play (BBC Cymru), They Don’t Teach Boys How To Grieve In This Town (Wales Millennium Centre), The Walk with Little Amal (Coventry), The Shoemaker (Welsh National Opera), The House of Jollof Opera (Music Theatre Wales, Fio); as Movement Director: Brown Boys Swim (The North Wall, Soho Theatre, Fringe First winner); as Staff Director: Top Girls (National Theatre). Sita regularly facilitates courses, workshops and panels, and has created and led the year-round artist development programmes Arise – Wales Creatives (Wales Millennium Centre, S4C, BBC Audio, Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, Fio) and Tamasha Directors Programme.  

Sita trained on the National Theatre Directors Course (2022). Sita holds a PhD from the University of Warwick and a Masters in Movement Direction from Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. She is a trustee of Emergency Exit Arts and formerly of the Young Vic. Sita was a children’s TV presenter of Channel 5’s milkshake! (20152023).
